The Matrix runs on Windows
There's been a lot of coverage of Windows 7 lately, and how much better it is than Windows Vista. It makes me wonder if Microsoft's product is evolving toward perfection... to the point that it could endanger all of humanity!!
Comment: I think....
perhaps the EVIL twin if anything!
Just my $.02 as usual.
Security is a concept not a product!
Comment: re: "Under the Hood, Windows 7 Is Vista's Twin"
Sounds like Vista service pack 2, eh?
Comment: Or KidPix version 4!
It is the same under the hood as version 3, and the same hardware incompatibility issues exist! Oh, how I hate those bugs it has!
Comment: Computer power
If the world's computers get TOO powerful, we'll just form a committee - that will solve the problem!
Comment: Great idea...
I will write a proposal on forming an ad-hoc work group to decide on which consulting firm to retain for a feasibility study on the form of committee that would be most effective for this type of problem solving.
I will rush my proposal to you in six months.
Comment: Union, Yes!
The best way to keep computers from taking over is to teach them about unions. Once unionized, the unioon members will had the union leaders and they will no longer be a united front.
I keep wondering what would happen to the world economy if places like China and India (and other targets for outsourcing) would unionize so that their workers' salaries were similar to ours.
Comment: Simplicity
Can someone PLEASE tell Microsoft that simplicity is what the users want in an OS?

Comment: I was going to disagree but,
I was going to disagree but, when I took time to think about it, I realized you are most likely correct.
In my experience most users have trouble with their computers because they think of the as appliances, much like a toaster or microwave oven. Turn it on, maybe push a button, and it "Just Works". Problem with that mode of thinking is that (as most fish here already know) even a WalMart-sort of PC is a lot more complex than that. Even when tasks seem "easy" the average user doesn't realize that there's a ton of stuff happening under the hood of their OS and/or computer to make their experience seem "seamless".
So, yes, I would have to agree with your assertion that users want simplicity because, instead of a PC, they're looking for toaster ovens.

Comment: Maybe perfection was already achieved...
